West Newton Hill Architecture Walk

West Newton Hill Architecture Walk

Grand Victorians, Shingle Style porches and Colonial Revivals on Newton’s most photogenic hill.

West Newton Hill has one of the densest concentrations of great 19th-century domestic architecture in Greater Boston — Queen Anne turrets, Shingle Style sweeps, and a few genuinely important Colonial Revival houses.

A loop up Highland Street and back down Otis takes about an hour. It is entirely a public-sidewalk activity; please admire from the street. Best in late October.
