St. Mary of Carmen Festival

Nonantum’s four-day Italian street feast — processions, a midway, sausage carts and fireworks.

The Festa is the biggest thing that happens in Newton all year. Adams Street closes down for four days of food stalls, carnival rides, brass bands, and a Sunday procession that carries the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel through the village.

Go hungry: sausage and peppers, arancini, zeppole, and Italian ice. Free to attend; bring cash for food and rides. Parking is impossible — walk in from Watertown Street.
